My Seasonal Friend

She tap-tap-tapped on my windowsill
This seasonal friend of mine
I knew she would come around today
For today the sun doesn't shine
Dark clouds hovered above
Her home this chilly day
And as she tapped on my window pane
I knew she wanted to play
Quickly I put my raincoat on
But my boots, where are they?
I have to go and greet my friend
We have to go and play
I ran outside to meet my friend
and she happily showered me with love
We laughed and we frolicked,
Laid on the grass and looked at the heavens above
She told me about her trips
across the Pacific and back
She told me about the friends she made
as she traveled the weather map
But soon my mother came calling
And I knew I had to go
We ran around the block once more
And listened to the wind blow
And before she left, she lulled me to sleep
with her tap-tap-tapping on my window pane.
I'm counting the days 'til I see her again
My seasonal friend called Rain.
